About the Job

The Manager Sterile Processing High Level Dis Ops role is now eligible for a $4,000 sign on bonus. Important Details: Bonuses are paid out after 6 months ($2,000) and 12-months ($2,000). To be eligible, you must be a non-BILH employee. Employee must be in good standing to receive the bonus at the time of payment. All bonuses are subject to applicable taxes. This program is subject to change at any point.


Position Summary:   

The Manager, Sterile Processing High Level Disinfection (HLD Manager) ensures that the CSPD Department across both campuses are meeting High Level Disinfection needs expectations.  This position will work closely with the Central Sterile Processing Director and Educator in ensuring 24/7 coverage and meeting qualitative benchmarks. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities: including but not limited to: 

  • Assist in policy, process or practice guideline, protocol design, data collection, data analysis, data reporting and feedback to support quality and safety with patient care 

  • Facilitates user support and participation in performance improvement initiatives. 

  • Compliance:  Ensures that policies, procedures, quality assurance, and customer service standards are followed.  Participates in the development and implementation as well as the monitoring of all department policies, procedures, technical guidelines and quality assurance standards.  Ensures quality performance, customer satisfaction and adherence to the requirements of regulatory agencies. 

  • Human Resources:  Responsible for maintaining adequate staffing levels, interviewing, and employee relations.  Responsible for completion of staff Performance Appraisals, Competence Assessment, Compliance and Mandatory Education.  Counsels and disciplines assigned staff as needed, preparing proper supporting documentation and recommending changes in personnel status. 

  • Act as department representative in various committees throughout the organization (Infection Control, Surgical Site Infection, DASH, ad hoc, etc) 

  • Responsible for all task auditing along with a close out process by month ensuring all HLD records are complete and organized. 

  • Acts as the qualified documentation and regulatory resource person as it pertains to the departments function for staff, colleagues, and regulatory agencies 

  • Monitors compliance with various regulatory agencies and standards such AAMI standards; AORN standards; TJC; CMS; DPH; OSHA; etc 

  • Work hands-on in the department in each of the functional areas, leading by example, and is able to perform as a fully functional Sterile Processing Technician. 

  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

  • Tracking System/Database administration 

  • Develop and maintain a cleaning verification program using 3M ATP testing for Scope Cleaning efficacy. 

  • Serve as a backup for the Manager, Quality & Safety Sterile Processing to ensure management level leadership is always accessible. 


Professional Growth / Self Improvement: 

  • Engages in professional development activities such as education, participating in professional associations, or other appropriate activities. 

  • Maintains necessary continuing education requirements for license, certifications and enhancements. 


Education:   Bachelor Degree Preferred or equivalent experience 

Licensure, Certification, Registration:   

  • Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) – Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)  

  • Or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc. (CBSPD) – Central Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician (CSPDT)   

  • HSPA - Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER) Certification 

  • Or CBSPD – Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:  Ability to work in a hospital environment and deal closely and effectively with a variety of staff (physicians and nurses, infection control practitioners, CPD staff, risk management, administration) up to 100% of work time.   

  • Experience with working in OR and CPD environment 

  • Requires interpersonal skills necessary to lead, coach and educate others and to work effectively with a wide variety of hospital and outside personnel. 

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.  

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.  

Experience:  A minimum of five years of experience in Extensive central processing
