About the Job
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, the Ophthalmic Technician assists ophthalmologists and optometrists with eye examinations. Duties include performing various vision tests, collecting medical data, monitoring and maintaining patient flow, scribing, patient education, and assisting physicians with various procedures; as well as assisting with various administrative duties within the Ophthalmology Department.
Essential Basic Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Education: Minimum high school graduate or GED, or equivalent education and experience.
Licensure, Certification, Registration: None required; however recommend completion of ophthalmic scribe course, ophthalmic assistant certification or ophthalmic technician certification through the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology, graduate of accredited optometric school or foreign graduate of medical school.
