About the Job

BILH is currently seeking a physician executive leader as its next President of LHMC.

The President will ensure that LHMC functions at the highest levels including delivering safe, high-quality coordinated care, efficient management of resources, smooth and efficient administrative services, and implementation of strategic and operational plans. The President will be responsible for the executive leadership and fiscal health of LHMC and leading the organization during a challenging period in healthcare and a pivotal moment for the organization.

The President will execute LHMC's plan, joining the organization as Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) launches its 10-year strategic plan, The President will work collaboratively with system-wide leadership and other BILH hospital and business unit presidents to advance goals to strengthen its mission of becoming a fully integrated system of patient care, education, research, and community service. This individual will identify new sites of service and strategic partnerships that extend into the community, ensuring a robust health system distinguished by offering outstanding patient care programs and strong financial performance. The President will be a strong operational leader with sound fiscal management experience who will continue LHMC's lengthy culture of service and collaborative care. The President will be a visible and enthusiastic leader within the organization and a vital partner in supporting philanthropy.

The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications:

  • Operationally focused leader with hospital executive leadership experience, including profit and loss.
  • Successful leadership experience in roles of increasing scope in a large, complex, multi-site health care system. Experience in a clinic model or having led a physician organization is desirable.
  • Proven ability to formulate an operational strategy, guide the development of operating plans, and drive performance to achieve or surpass goals.
  • An appreciation and understanding of physicians' perspective in clinical, academic, and community settings. A track record of successfully engaging physicians to ensure that they embrace a transformational vision.
  • Experience implementing and sustaining safety and quality improvement programs critical to the institution's goals and strategic vision.
  • Experience with clinical care integration, including leading and implementing clinical programs, quality initiatives, communication plans, and the standardization of operational and financial metrics.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing trust and cultivating relationships with stakeholder entities, including state and local governments, health care providers, payers, community organizations, media, and academia.
  • A record of cultivating equity of opportunity, and work environments of inclusion and belonging that shape diverse leadership teams and organizations.
  • A proven track record as a superior clinician and having personal academic accomplishments and credentials.
  • Board certified MD/DO.
