Nurse Manager - Transplantation
The Department of Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Diseases at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center, is seeking a talented Nurse Manager (NM) to play a key role managing the day to day operations of this dynamic department. The Department of Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Diseases is part of an integrated, multidisciplinary group practice providing comprehensive care for liver and kidney transplant patients. Currently it is the largest living liver donor program in the country.
The Department of Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Diseases is a truly integrated department with 5 surgeons, and five medical physicians including 3 Transplant Hepatologists and 2 Transplant Nephrologists. The department also includes 2 PA, 8 RNs functioning in high-level Transplant Coordinator roles, 1 LPN and 2 Medical Assistants.
Under the general supervision and in collaboration with the Associate Chief of Ambulatory Nursing and ED, the Nurse Manager for the Department of Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Diseases practices within the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Professional Practice Model, Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics. The NM for the Department of Transplantation will supervise staff and coordinate the daily operations and delivery of patient care in the department. The NM, as a registered nurse, will provide professional nursing care as needed to all patients of the department.
The NM is responsible for nursing policy development and implementation, recruitment and management of staff including disciplinary action as needed, regulatory compliance, educational development of nursing staff and scheduling of staff to insure adequate coverage daily. The SLNM will collaborate closely with other members of the transplant team including Social Work, Pharmacy, Dietary, Infectious Disease and Behavioral Medicine to plan and coordinate delivery of patient care.
The NM participates in a shared governance model providing leadership for unit based councils and other nursing committees.
Education: Graduate of a state approved or accredited School of Nursing. Bachelors of Science in Nursing required with a Master’s degree in Nursing or related field in order to have full understanding of Nursing Services functions preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
Current licensure to practice professional nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Life Support Certification: BLS or ACLS
