About the Job

Position Summary: Responsible for washing silverware, dishes, cooking utensils/appliances and cleaning kitchen and dining area. Operates the dishwasher, sweeps and mops floors, maintains food storage areas and refrigerator/freezer in a clean and orderly manner. Returns clean dishes and utensils to proper storage area.

Responsibilities

Dish Area Responsibilities

1. Operates and maintains dishwasher
2. Responsible for daily chemical level testing and recording of water temperature
3. Responsible for maintaining adequate level of dishwashing chemicals and equipment (i.e., mop head, broom)
4. Removes trash from kitchen area to dumpster in a timely fashion and maintains trash area in a sanitary manner
5. Maintains adequate inventory of clean dishes and utensils for meals
6. Returns clean dishes and utensils to proper storage areas
7. Assures that safety and sanitation regulations are followed at all times
8. Maintains dishwashing area in a clean and orderly manner
9. Assures all chinaware is stacked and handled properly and carefully to avoid breakage
10. Performs similar and other related duties as required

Kitchen Area Responsibilities

1. Assists in storing of food and food supplies as needed
2. Maintains food storage area in a clean and orderly manner
3. Assists in food preparation as needed
4. Responsible for mopping and sweeping of kitchen floors
5. Cleans worktables, refrigerators/freezers and sinks
6. Prepares employee meal trays as needed

Qualifications

Education/Experience: Requires the ability to maintain kitchen and dining areas, as well as all dishes, utensils and appliances in a clean and orderly manner. Knowledge of operating industrial size dishwasher and knowledge of sanitation standards is essential. Requires the ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.

• Rarely carries 51-100 pounds.
• Never carries 100+ pounds.
• Most frequently carried objects: pots and pans, serving trays, cleaning supplies, heavy boxes and kitchenware.

Frequency of Movements:

• Frequently bends and reaches.
• Occasionally squats, twists, pushes and pulls.
• Rarely climbs or kneels,
• Never crawls.

Hours Per Day on a Regular Shift:

• 0-1 hours per day sitting.
• 3-5 hours per day standing.
• 3-5 hours per day walking. 

Sensory Requirements: 

• Requires normal vision range and hearing ability.

Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures:

• Moderate exposure to chemicals and dust. Category II: Potential exposure to bodily fluids.
