About the Job

Position Summary:  Responsible for maintaining inventory of operating room equipment, assuring that all equipment is in adequate supply, is readily available to surgeons and is in safe working order.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Regularly reviews surgical schedule to ensure equipment is available for any laparascopic procedures. Assures that equipment is available to individual surgeons.
  1. Performs daily preventive maintenance, testing and cleaning of electrical and surgical video equipment to ensure proper functioning during surgical procedures.
  1. Documents maintenance repairs on OR equipment utilizing OR Inventory Database System. Communicates with manufacturers and/or sales reps. as necessary to assure adequate inventory and maximum operation of equipment.
  1. Responds to requests from surgical staff to troubleshoot equipment problems as needed.
  1. Coordinates annual OR equipment inspection
  1. Works collaboratively with the Inventory Control Coordinator to ensure that electrical laparascopic video and electrosurgical generators meet par levels and that loaners are available when needed.
  1. Ensures that Safety Manual is updated with required data sheets as regulated by OSHA, JCAHO and Infection Control regulations.
  1. Coordinates electrical inspection of all trial and/or loaner equipment prior to use in OR
  1. Maintains aseptic techniques while monitoring and regulating electrical and video equipment during procedures.
  1. Provides clinical support to MDs, RNs and Surgical Techs. as necessary. May prepare patient’s skin for surgery and/or position or transfer patients.
  1. Works closely with OR Business Administrator in coordinating capital equipment purchases.
  1. Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles , Mission Statement and Goals  into daily activities.
