About the Job

The Education Manager is responsible for advancing clinical practice across BILHAH. Key responsibilities include responding to educational needs while staying up-to-date on changing trends in home health practice. Develop and implement clinical education for clinical professionals with emphasis placed on educational programs that align with quality improvement initiatives, advanced clinical practices, critical thinking skills, and the promotion of exceptional patient care delivery. Oversee educators in the provision of advanced clinical skill training in a classroom setting as well as the accompanying of clinicians in the homes of clients to ensure safe and competent practice. Collaborate with educators, clinical and quality leaders, and clinical staff in planning education delivery that is based on current principles and researched evidence. Deliver a diverse range of educational offerings for nursing, therapy, and home health / hospice aide staff.

Oversee and coordinate the annual influenza clinics for employees and overall program requirements for patients to receive the influenza vaccine. Serve as a resource for infection control practices.

Oversee and coordinate CPR certification requirements.

  • Develops the orientation program for newly hired staff and revises as needed based on changes identified within home health/hospice practice and as dictated by organizational trends.
  • Oversees activities of the Clinical Staff Educators to ensure consistency in orientation and quality of professional practice across the organization.
  • Oversees and updates the preceptor program, which is designed to increase knowledge, teaching and communication skills of experienced clinicians in the preceptor role.
  • Provides ongoing support and education to preceptors and validates preceptor skills.
  • Coordinates and oversees the preparation and completion of the annual competency program to ensure competency skill requirements are met based on organizational priorities.
  • Ensures regular education joint visits are conducted to assess needs and identify improvement opportunities. 
  • Acts as a resource for clinical educators, managers and staff to ensure optimal knowledge in the application of advanced clinical skills.
  • Participates in the development of clinical standards of practice, continued professional advancement, patient safety and achievement of patient outcomes.
  • Works collaboratively with clinical and quality leadership, as well as the Epic software team, to maximize efficient and effective processes related to patient care, clinical productivity and quality outcomes.
  • Promotes excellence in evidence-based practice and quality performance.
  • Identifies unique and creative ways to provide learning experiences and evaluate performance and competencies.
  • Coordinates the annual employee flu vaccine program.
  • Maintains accurate departmental records as related to educational programs.
  • Understands and applies principles of adult learning.


Minimum qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; MSN or BSN from an accredited school preferred

Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Massachusetts - Minimum of 3 to 5 years clinical experience preferred.

Certified home health and / or hospice care experience required.

Previous teaching experience preferred.  

Ability to teach professional clinicians in a classroom setting.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Ability to develop, train, and implement educational programs for all clinical staff and home health / hospice aide staff.

Ability to support training/orientation of new clinical staff.
