About the Job

Position Summary:  


Under the general direction of the Manager of Nursing Quality, provides quality, safety, patient experience and general data analytics support for the planning, implementation, and coordination of care, nursing research, and the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program journey for LHMC. This position will work closely with leadership and frontline colleagues to support the transformation and translation of evidence based, safe care through the use of data. This position utilizes skills in data analysis, data manipulation against large-scale datasets and support for Nursing at LHMC. The Analyst must be able to understand the business/research scenario, analyze, interpret and communicate findings to all levels of leadership and frontline colleagues.


Shift: 40 Hour Days


Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:


  1. The Analyst would be responsible for projects as prioritized by leadership team
  2. Analyze data, including monthly key performance indicators, and identify early trends that illustrate opportunities to implement process improvement initiatives.
  3. Actively analyze and review to assist with improvements to current or planned systems and processes to optimize healthcare management and decision making
  4. Perform various ad-hoc analyses to drive business decisions across the organization. 
  5. Convert big data sets into usable information that is easy to report, understand, and facilitates optimal decision making by stakeholders
  6. Responsible for identification and analysis of errors/inconsistencies in the data and provides timely resolutions.

  2. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department


Minimum Qualifications:


Education:   A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a healthcare related field such as Nursing, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Medical Informatics, Health Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology or related fields.


Licensure, Certification, Registration:  None


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  1. Working knowledge of healthcare data with the ability to understand medical concepts in view of a clinical dataset.
  2. Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) is a must.
  3. Knowledge of healthcare research will be very beneficial.
  4. Effective leadership, oral communication, writing, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Additionally a basic knowledge in proposal development and grant writing is beneficial.
  5. Any knowledge of programing using Python, R, Stata is good to have but not required.
  1. Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience in Health Informatics, data analysis, research analysis support experience in a clinical/healthcare environment
