About the Job
Position Summary: Supports the mission of the department by ensuring that the right patients receive the right medication in a safe and timely manner. Develops a full understanding of the drug distribution operations in their assigned area and demonstrates competency in carrying out all duties associated with medication distribution.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Licensure, Certification, Registration: Must be a registered technician or pharmacy intern with the MA Board of Pharmacy or must obtain a Pharmacy Technician Trainee License from the Board of Pharmacy. A Pharmacy Technician Trainee must complete 500 hours employment before applying for Pharmacy Technician registration with the MA Board of Pharmacy. No individual can work as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee for more than 1 year. Technicians are highly encouraged to become nationally certified by PTCB (preferred) or equivalent.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet the requirements of this job description. Math skills are required. Understands standard pharmaceutical/medical terms, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in the prescribing and dispensing of medications. English communication skills oral and written comprehension. Knowledge of policies and regulations pertaining to handling and distribution of controlled substances and hazardous materials preferred. Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
Experience: One year experience as a pharmacy technician preferred.
