About the Job

Position Summary:  Responsible for preparing the food on the cooks’ work list in accordance with planned menus and sanitary regulations.  Assisting in working the food hot line as needed.

Certificates/Licenses:  ServeSafe Certification is a plus.

Food Preparation Responsibilities

  1. Assist the chef and food service staff in the preparation of resident meals in accordance with planned menus, established inventories and standard recipes
  2. Assists in food preparation for special events
  3. Assures the stock level of staple and non-staple food and food service supplies are maintained at adequate levels at all times
  4. Performs sanitation of all food preparation work surfaces on a clean as you go basis
  5. Performs daily cleaning of assigned kitchen areas
  6. Follows guidelines as established by Serv-Safe for food preparation
  7. Wears gloves while preparing ready-to-eat foods
  8. Must be able to read, understand and prepare any recipe without direction
  9. Performs similar and other related duties as required


Food Delivery

  1. Serves meals in a timely and efficient manner
  2. Ensures that food presentation is appetizing in appearance and taste
  3. Ensures food is served hot
  4. Maintains portion control within food service delivery to residents


Food Storage and Other Miscellaneous.

  1. Assures the stock level of staple and non-staple food and food service supplies are maintained at adequate levels at all times
  2. Ensures kitchen equipment is maintained in proper working condition and reports any equipment not working properly to cook in charge of Food Service Director
  3. Assists with dishwashing when required
  4. Attends and participates in staff meetings
