About the Job

Under supervision of the Section Head/Operation’s Manager the technologist performs all Breast ultrasonography exams and breast ultrasonography procedures. Technologist is responsible for establishing and maintaining the cross- training program for Breast Sonography. This includes, but not limited to, monitoring and training based on Competency objectives. The technologist is responsible for ancillary paperwork as needed. The technologist is responsible for monitoring and maintaining essential patient care and safety.  Flexibility to cover open shifts necessary, including other LHMC site.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities  including but not limited to: 

  1. Obtain and document necessary patient information/history in order to perform appropriate exam.
  1. Obtain and document necessary patient information/history in the EPIC Mammography Module w/100% accuracy.
  1. Begin and Complete exams utilizing the RIS with 100% accuracy, 100% of the time.
  1. Label all images with correct patient information and performing Technologist’s initials with 100% accuracy 100% of the time.
  1. Performs all breast ultrasound exams and procedures accurately and efficiently.
  1. Prepares necessary paperwork for breast ultrasound exams and procedures.
  1. Enters pathology in mammography module.
  1. BLS Certified
  1. Properly QC exams utilizing the PACS system
  1. Properly evaluates images for Diagnostic purposes/recognizing errors and the need to repeat a study.
  2. Readily and willingly contributes to team approach to provide optimal quality care for patients.  
  1. Properly uses ultrasound equipment and, or accessory equipment while accurately scanning patient as established by departmental protocols.
  1. Assistants in the clinical training of Radiology Residents
  1. Maintains the cross- training program for Breast Sonography. This includes, but is not limited to, monitoring and training of mammographers based on Competency objectives.
  1. Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles and Mission Statement into daily activities.

Minimum Qualifications: 


Education: Associate or Bachelors’ degree in Science. 

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered by the ARDMS in the specialties in which the technologist practices. If not, must be registered with in 12 months.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:  Minimal Computer skillsCandidate must be proficient in the use of ultrasound equipment.

Experience:   4 years, preferably with experience in Breast Ultrasound and procedures. Teaching experience is preferred.
