About the Job

Position Summary:

The Director for Facilities Services is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of Facilities Services across all campuses.  They are responsible for successfully coordinating and directing all activities within the Facilities Services through subordinate managers, supervisors and employees.  Highest possible client and customer satisfaction, employee relations and retention programs effectiveness are to be maintained and financial goals achieved for the organization.  In carrying out assigned responsibilities, the Director must ensure that all personnel under their operations adhere to all Governance, Corporate and Division policies and procedures. 

Scheduled Hours

40 hour exempt position


  • Direct and coordinate all activities within Facility Services Department through subordinate facility managers and supervisors.


  • Responsible for attainment of financial goals within the Department.


  • Develop Capital Plans and Operating Budgets for strategic facility initiatives.


  • Oversees all NHC facilities including the Central Utility Plant


  • Oversees any maintenance construction or renovation projects assigned.


  • Oversees energy sustainability (carbon foot print reduction) / resiliency / utility programs.


  • Oversees the electronic building maintenance system.


  • Ensure all utility infrastructure systems are operating / maintained in optimum working conditions.


  • Ensure all grounds are appropriately maintained (landscape, storm water systems, impervious surfaces, snow removal, etc.) for all seasons.


  • Ensure all building envelopes and roofing systems are appropriately maintained.


  • Ensure all building automation systems are functioning optimally.


  • Ensure that all employees demonstrate service orientation towards all hospital’s customers and stakeholders.


  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.


Education and Experience

  • 8-10 years management experience in the healthcare field
  • Has their Certified Healthcare Facilities Management (CHFM)
  • Experience in facilities maintenance activities, planning, and directing programs to maintain the physical environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in facilities management / engineering or similar required, Advance degree ideal.
  • Demonstrated professional development
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accreditation process and other regulatory agencies
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial and other data
  • Customer Service orientation
