About the Job
The Geriatric Phlebotomist provides Laboratory services as part of the patient care team, by performing age-appropriate phlebotomy procedures for patients in sub-acute, long term care health facilities, adult day care centers, and private homes. The Geriatric Phlebotomist Acts as a liaison between customers and the laboratory. Primary responsibilities are: to perform all aspects of specimen collection, labeling, preparation/preservation, packaging, transport and delivery to appropriate testing area; to perform LIS procedures such as registration, processing, order entry, labeling and results reporting; to maintain/modify filing system; to communicate with facilities/physician offices and coordinate patient orders using scheduling software.
The Geriatric Phlebotomist is responsible to perform duties within established time frames, while maintaining accurate and detailed records. He/She assumes responsibility for compliance with all State, Federal, Hospital and Laboratory policies and procedures. This position requires strict adherence to quality control guidelines to ensure the integrity of laboratory specimens and accuracy of results. Weekend, holiday and on-call rotation is required, with dependable transportation.
Per diem, hours assigned as needed.

High School graduate or equivalent
Successful completion of approved phlebotomy program
2 years experience required
Customer service and computer skills/experience are required
Valid State Driver’s License
Phlebotomy Certification Preferred
