Solstice School is a fully accredited therapeutic day school that works with students who have learning, mental health or behavioral issues. We offer a year-round curriculum (8:1 student teacher ratio), including our interactive, action-packed summer program. Our dynamic teachers and staff are dedicated to helping your student or child to discover his or her unique potential — academically, socially and interpersonally. We accept students from the North Shore and the upper Merrimack Valley.  

The School Nurse is a RN who provides high quality nursing care to the students attending the day school. Additionally, the School Nurse oversees medication administration and documentation for the school. Interfaces with psychiatrists primary care physicians, and parent supports to coordinate care for all students. Assesses student's physical and psychological conditions on an ongoing basis throughout the school day.

The Nurses Responsibilities are: 

  • Responsible and accountable for the quality of nursing care delivered, and oversees medication administration protocol.
  • Monitors students for any physical or psychiatric conditions requiring treatment. As needed, provides consultation to families and support teams.
  • Administers medication during the school day and ensures appropriate documentation is completed.
  • Provides instruction and training to all staff as is ordered/directed/necessary.
  • Communicates with treatment team regarding youth needs, changes in status, and all emergencies regarding medical or psychiatric condition.
  • Attain certification as school nurse level I through the SHIELD program.
  • Perform and/or track state mandated health screenings for students.
  • Maintains current medication administration delegation, certification, and MCSR through the Department of Public Health
  • Trains and supervises unlicensed personnel assigned medication administration

Qualifications: 

  • Valid and current Massachusetts licensure as a Registered Nurse, current certification in CPR.
  • Must demonstrate ability to relate and desire work with a diverse adolescent population in a sensitive manner, an interest and willingness to work in a multicultural setting and must share a customer service orientation. Manages difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to youth needs. Focuses on solving conflict, not blaming and maintains confidentiality.

Schedule: 

Flexible schedule - anywhere between 20-40 hours per week (Mon-Fri, Days). We can accomadte a consistent schedule between 20-40 hrs/wk
