About the Job

The Director of Outpatient will oversee the adequacy, appropriateness, and quality of clinical programming at the Salem site.  This includes the clinical orientation and supervision, clinical and administrative, of staff; management of clinical performance and clinical activities, including evaluation and assessment of clients,  to ensure high standards of client and organization results. Lead clinical team meetings and critical risk teams, quality review of clinical documentation and clinical areas of staff performance and evaluations.  Maintain required census at the Learning Center and productivity standards at the Clinic to meet financial targets and goals of the programs.  In conjunction with the VP of Ambulatory and Community Services, develops and implements approved standards and guidelines for ambulatory / community services and programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the oversight of clinical programming/services with continuous evaluation of efficacy, quality of service and recommendations for changes when needed. Leads team meetings within designated programs.
  • Ongoing review of clinical activities and enhancement in performance and services including intakes/admissions and discharges. Continuous quality development for outpatient and day treatment services through procedures, manuals, training materials, participation in trainings, best practices, using staff and the research literature as resources.
  • Ensures that clinical supervision is received by all clinical staff appropriate to individual’s level of education and expertise.
  • Provides individual clinical supervision to clinicians and/or interns as needed. Continuously assess learning needs of supervisees; develop and implement learning objectives and supervision plan; complete performance reviews as required.
  • Serve as a key liaison for the programs and direct the resolution of inquiries, problems, complaints, or emergencies affecting availability or quality of services; respond to sensitive or complex inquiries, service complaints, or grievances filed.
  • Ensure availability outside of scheduled supervisory and team meetings and promptly respond to (clinical) emergencies.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring staff paperwork / documentation is complete, within expected timeframes, and written in an accurate, legible and concise manner.  Ensures staff records are in compliance with the regulatory bodies and agency’s methods of Quality Assurance.
  • Provide direct clinical services to individuals, families and/or groups as needed and complete all clinical documentation within expected timeframes and in compliance with organization policies. Documentation must meet quality standards established by regulatory bodies and the agency.
  • Monitor monthly productivity and census expectations of programs in order to meet financial targets and goals.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal, external providers, as well as other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Human Services field, four years post masters experience of progressively responsible management experience. Minimum four years supervisory experience, licensed at independent level.
  • Knowledge of evidenced based treatments, managed care principles, provider development and quality improvement concepts is essential. Familiarity with state and local agencies serving the community helpful.
  • Must possess outstanding planning and implementation skills, a strategic approach, and a good working knowledge of data reporting and analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with person centered approach, mental health and substance use services, psychiatric rehabilitation, development and utilization of peer resources, harm reduction and group treatment highly preferred.
