BayRidge Hospital provides accessible, high-quality substance abuse and mental health treatment. The 62-bed psychiatric hospital in Lynn offers a continuum of psychiatric and chemical dependency services on an inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient basis.

About the Job

Position Summary:

 

Assumes responsibility for supervision of social work staff to assure the development of psychosocial assessments and provision of appropriate clinical care.  Assures efficient patient utilization of continuum resources through close communication and collaboration with the patient, primary treaters, insurers, and community agencies. Directs and manages utilization review activities with managed care organizations, insurance companies and HMO’s to assure coordinated care and continuous communication

????Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervise Hospital Social Workers and coordinate all students and interns.
2. Make daily assignments, approve time off, and schedule all social work coverage.
3. Maintain relationships with medical and nursing staff.
4. Represent social workers on various committees.
5. Support the hospital in such a manner that there is a strong and positive commitment to quality patient care.
6. Attend clinical department meetings and administrative meetings that support the mission of the hospital and have a positive impact on patient care.
7. Support and implement administrative decisions.
8. Utilize and provide supervision in a positive and thoughtful manner to enhance professional improvement and development.
9. Maintain a clear understanding of hospital policies and protocols, and practices within those policies and protocols.
10. Maintain appropriate records and consistently complete paperwork requirements.
11. Coordinate the development and formulation of psychosocial and case management needs assessments.
12. Effectively identify patient, family, institutional and community barriers to discharge or transitions in treatment. Coordinate referrals and facilitate transitions in treatment while addressing the barriers identified.
13. Facilitate and/or provide direct clinical therapeutic interventions to prevent relapse and ensure continuity of care.
14. Provide information/education to patients and their families/significant others regarding illness, recovery and treatment options.
15. Work collaboratively and professionally with the treatment team in maintaining a collaborative relationship with the outside providers and the reimbursement team to optimize the provision of high quality patient care.
16. Participate in ongoing quality improvement studies that will have positive patient care outcomes.
17. Maintain understanding of and follow regulatory agencies’ expectations and guidelines (i.e. DMH, DPH, JCAHO, Payers, etc.).
18. Maintain yearly/biyearly requirements of CPR, Risk Management and Aggression Management.
19. Willing to perform other duties not documented in the job description

Qualifications

Master’s Degree in social work with current Massachusetts license, LICSW. Previous clinical leadership experience or demonstrated clinical leadership skills with recent Inpatient experience. 5-10 years social work experience with theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the clinical area.

Exhibits ability to be competent in the following areas:
                                1)            Individual and group therapy
                                2)            De-escalation/restraint management
                                3)            Clinical Supervision
                                4)            Strong ability to assess and evaluate patient needs and develop treatment
                                                plans to address the identified needs
                                5)            Strong organizational skills

Demonstrates leadership qualities with adaptive abilities and strong interpersonal relations skills. Possess
management skills and the ability to effectively supervise employees. Ability to use sound administrative practices. Work cooperatively and effectively with others and ability to adapt to changes in the workplace.

Must be fluent in English (verbal and written).
