About the Job

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager of Health Information Management, t
he Medical Staff Liaison is responsible for supporting members of the medical staff with their incomplete records and electronic medical record documentation.

  • Assists physicians, advance practitioners and other clinicians with medical record documentation completion.
  • Responsible for monitoring, tracking and maintaining compliance with incomplete record policies and procedures as defined by Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules and
  • Regulations, CMS, Joint Commission and HIM Department.
  • Educates new providers regarding management of health information at the monthly new physician orientation.
  • Communicates with providers and provider offices regarding deficient medical records.
  • Understands and uses hospital technology in an appropriate and efficient manner.
  • Adheres to Department, Hospital and Human Resource Policies.
  • Strictly adheres to state and federal laws on confidentiality of protected health information.
  • Performs other duties as required.

  • High school graduate
  • Experience in an office setting
  • Previous Health Information Management/Medical Record experience preferred
  • Computer skills; Google and Epic experience desirable
  • Medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, DPH documentation regulations
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to patient confidentiality.
