About the Job

Under general supervision of the Director, Research Administration, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Assistant will assist the IRB Supervisor in the processing of all research applications submitted to the IRB.  The IRB is responsible for the review of all human subject research conducted at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center.  

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

 

  1. Assists in the processing of research applications for Committee review in accordance with the federal regulations
  1. Assists in conducting preliminary reviews of all IRB applications to ensure compliance with LH&MC IRB policies and federal regulations
  1. Assists in responding to inquiries from Lahey colleagues regarding research activities
  2. Provides training and guidance to Lahey colleagues on IRB procedures and systems including IRBNet, CITI and Research 2.0.
  1. Shares applications with IRB members for review and respond to Committee or Chair inquiries as needed.
  1. Prepares all correspondence to researchers that convey the IRB Committee decisions and contingencies for IRB approval
  2. Sends reminders to researchers regarding scheduled meetings and deadlines (including study expiration)
  3. Assists in maintaining IRB records including study documents, training records and other materials
  4. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required

 

Licensure, Certification & Registration:

 

None

 

Experience:

 

3 years of work experience in an IRB support capacity.  Experience with IRBNet is preferred.

 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

 

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proven ability to function independently and to interact with professional personnel at all levels.
