About Us

Position Summary:  Reporting to the Manager of Admissions, this position is responsible for a patient’s pre-hospital account, including registration, financial clearance and authorizations, pre-operative appointment scheduling and coordination, and facilitating any changes or patient needs relative to the hospital stay. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:


  1. Agent for assigned in patient, observation or surgical day care cases from scheduling through admission
  1. Completes thorough patient registration in any account status
  1. Completes accurate insurance verification for all assigned accounts and notification of insurance and PCP offices for ED visits
  1. Completes accurate and timely insurance pre-certification for all assigned accounts
  2. Responsible for accuracy in detail and thoroughness in completion and follow-through on all tasks, being able to manage and coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously, setting work priorities to ensure timely job completion.
  3. Responsible for excellent and complete customer service, problem-solving, facilitating patients’ needs, and ensuring a safe pre-admission and admission process.
  4. Participates in process improvement projects aimed at improving Patient safety and comfort.
  1. Schedules all pre-op appointments for assigned accounts; enter surgery in OR scheduling system within time parameters as assigned, provide service assistance for procedural and OR areas to ensure efficient flow of pre to post procedure information, business, billing and paper flow as required by site managers
  1. Coordinates the pre-admission process for assigned accounts
  1. Notifies patients of all procedures, insurance requirements, changes and appointments pre-operatively
  1. Completes all tasks accurately in multiple Hospital systems: MT, IDX, LCMC, PICIS, Bedtracking, Documentum, Captiva.
  1. Effectively communicates and works with patients and families and as a member of a high reliability team
  1. Performs front line registration desk duties
  1. Performs and completes Chart Room duties and completes bed assignments in the absence of the Bed Board Coordinator
  1. Strictly adheres to Lahey’s confidentiality policy
  1. Incorporates Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Guiding Principles , Mission Statement and Goals  into daily activities. 
  1. Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.
  1. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.
  1. Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

  1. Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.
  1. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.




Minimum Qualifications:


Education:  High school diploma or equivalent.



Licensure, Certification, Registration:   none


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Knowledgable in use of MS office products.  Familiarity with medical terminology, and the ability to work in hectic, changing environment.  Proven ability to perform detailed and accurate work.


Experience:   Demonstrated customer service excellence.  Previous experience in hospital and/or physician practice is preferred.
