About the Job

Colon Rectal Surgery

Under the direction from a physician, and within the established practice guidelines for a Physician Assistant and/or Nurse Practitioner, is responsible for performing a variety of duties in the evaluation, treatment plan and care, diagnosis and follow-up of assigned patients including preventative, pre-operative and post-operative care and office based procedures. The NP/PA will be primarily clinic based, however, may help to facilitate inpatient care as well.

Qualifications:

Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician Program. 

Practitioner RN: Graduate of a Masters Program in Nursing.  

Licensure, Certification, Registration:  

Applicable professional Certification and current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 

CPR certification from American Heart Association.  

Maintenance of appropriate CME 

DEA number and Mass Department of Public Health Division of Food and Drug Restricted Substances registration number as appropriate.  

Written prescription privilege protocols signed by all attendings with whom the individual will be working. 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: 

Excellent communication skills.  Ability to interact effectively with medical staff , nursing staff, and other clinical and administrative colleagues as well as with patients and their families.  Knowledge of applicable clinical procedures and protocols.  Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and ability to provide appropriate emotional support. 

In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.

Hours

Monday through Friday 8 - 5
