About the Job
Position Summary: Under general direction of the Clinical Director of Respiratory Care, plan and manage day-to-day department operational and clinical activities. Provide direction to Respiratory Care Staff, manage workflow effectively and ensure staff accountability for all elements of patient care and completion of duties and responsibilities. Identify areas for improvement related to staff performance or systemic issues. Provide corrective action make decisions regarding promotions, demotions, raises, and hiring, firing and performance appraisals. Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish personal goals. Exhibit a visionary, open mind approach and help foster change to keep department current with a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Establish and nurture positive relationships between Respiratory Care staff, physicians and other departments. Represent and promote the Respiratory Care department across the organization
Associates or Bachelor degree in Respiratory Therapy from an Accredited School of Respiratory Therapy, Master’s Degree desirable
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Minimal Computer skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Working knowlegde of PC’s.
Excellent Oral and Written Communication skills.
Ability to impart specialized clinical and medical information to members of the health care team; physician, nurses
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
4 year minimum in a supervisory capacity and 3 years as a Staff Respiratory Therapist with a focus on critical care, Experience in a tertiary academic medical center desirable but not required.
