About the Job

The Instructional Designer II leads all elements of training, planning, design, development, and implementation for designated application(s) in the EHR program. The EHR Instructional Designer II will support multiple applications.  The Instructional Designer II will independently work closely with their application team(s) to understand workflows that have been designed and the major points to stress in training. The Instructional Designer II customizes training materials and builds, tests in the training environment. The Instructional Designer II is responsible for training additional classroom trainers, super users and new hires and providing Go-live support. The Instructional Designer II works under the direction of the Training Manager to coordinate ongoing training projects of moderate complexity.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:   

 

  1. Leads all elements of training, planning, design, development, and implementation for designated applications in the EHR program

  2. Assists training manager with training strategy for designated applications.  Problem solves complex tasks and responsibilities.  

  3. Participates in the development of training policies and requirements for designated applications

  4. Complete the training tasks outlined in the training project plan

  5. Leads the development of detailed, workflow based curriculum for designated applications

  6. Leads building, testing, and maintaining the training environment for designated applications and between applications.

  7. Develops appropriate level of proficiency measures for training

  8. Deploys instructional methods based on type of learning, learner needs/preferences, and available resources

  9. Train end users, super users, and additional classroom trainers on assigned applications

  10. Champions the project

  11. Provide post go-live coaching and support.

  12. Completes required status reports and attends required meetings

  13. Achieves and maintains application certification in accordance with departmental and organizational standards

  14. Maintains confidentiality with regard to information being processed, stored or accessed by the system.  

  15. Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities

  16. Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.

  17. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.

  18. Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

  23. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. In the absence of a Bachelor’s degree, 8 years of healthcare clinical, operational or training experience, in addition to the experience requirement shown below.


Licensure, Certification & Registration:
 

  • none


Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience with adult education, instructional design, curriculum delivery or EHR training. Minimum of five (5) years of clinical or healthcare operational experience. In the absence of clinical or healthcare operational experience, three (3) years of EHR or Instructional Designer experience.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
 

  • Strong organizational, coordination, and follow up skills required.

  • Strong presentation, communication (oral and written), multi-tasking and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to adhere to time schedules in order to meet project deadlines

  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures, and assignments accurately within a set timeframe and to function under stressful situations in a calm and rational manner

  • Ability to create/maintain training and/or end-user documentation.

  • Ability to work in fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to travel in a timely manner to settings within a 45 minute drive from Burlington.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software to create teaching/learning materials and documentation. 

  • Ability to present in front of large groups of professionals

  • Ability to multi task
