About the Job
The Emergency Department Behavioral Tech position is one that is a critical member of the interprofessional team. Responsibilities include activities and interventions to afford patients with a behavioral health diagnosis the ability to receive safe and effective care while they await further evaluations and/or placement in another facility. Candidates must possess the ability to interact as a member of the interprofessional team in order to garner necessary information so that interventions specific to each patient can be delivered. These interventions involve supporting the patient's coping mechanisms, engagement in activities to distract and encourage them while they are boarding, and techniques to de-escalate as needed so as to ensure a safe environment for the patient and staff. Incumbents will collaborate with colleagues to remain informed of patient status and develop care plans so that a safe and effective transition to the next level of care is as seamless as possible. Candidates must have the ability to communicate in a professional and compassionate manner, and develop a willingness to further create our model of care delivery for this population.
