If you are a care taker at heart, consider joining the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center team as a Nursing Assistant. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will provide basic patient care activities in providing for the personal needs, comfort and safety of your patients.
Some of what you might do on a daily basis is:
- Taking and recording vital signs
- Vital signs
- Height and weight
- Oxygen saturation
- Reporting all unusual observations or reactions of the patient to the nurse
- Collecting various specimens for analysis and measuring and recording intake and output
- Providing patients with personal care and assisting with daily activities
- Performing basic clinical procedures independently or under supervision of a RN
- Provide for patients’ nutritional needs including assisting with ordering room service, setting up meal trays and feeding the patient as required.
- BLS Required
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
If you’re an experienced Nursing Assistant or high school graduate with a desire to help people and maybe even have aspirations to become a Registered Nurse, consider starting here as a Nursing Assistant. You must be able to read, write and perform basic four-function math. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic personal computer skills will be helpful.
