About the Job

Beverly Hospital, a member of Beth Israel Lahey Health, is currently searching for an Attending Nurse Practitioner to join their inpatient

team in the Leland Unit. Responsibilities include:

Inpatient Behavioral Health

-Assumes responsibility for the clinical management of assigned patients at all times (except when specific arrangements are made for coverage with the DOC or another member of the medical staff) on inpatient services and during assigned hours in Emergency Psychiatric Services (EPS) and on the Observation Unit. 

-Collaborates with Clinical Nurse Manager, EPS and Observation staff, allied disciplines, and patient’s outpatient network to ensure that safe, therapeutic and effective treatment is provided for all patients.

-Expected to lead, work collaboratively, and to provide appropriate clinical direction and support to the multidisciplinary treatment team to enhance the smooth delivery of patient care.

-Orders tests/procedures in a clinically sound and cost-effective manner using good judgment.

-Assumes responsibility for finding coverage for patient case load during expected absences from the hospital and will, in turn, provide coverage for other providers as needed. 


Consult Liaison Service (when needed)

-Assumes responsibility for the clinical management of all assigned consultations.

-These consultations will take place throughout the hospital and emergency department.

-The nurse practitioner will interact with various unit staff including attending physicians, nurse managers, staff nurses and other ancillary staff including dietary respiratory therapy, pastoral and security services.

-The nurse practitioner will seek out family and other appropriate care providers in order to establish a comprehensive picture of the patient’s pre-hospital function.

-The nurse practitioner will interact collaboratively with the coordinator of the consult liaison service and the manager of partial hospital services.



- Graduate of a Master's Program in Nursing

- ANCC certification in psychiatric and mental health nursing as a nurse practitioner

- Completion of appropriate psychopharmacology courses and current prescriptive authority in Massachusetts.

-Theoretical as well as practical knowledge of the following clinical areas:

Inpatient Behavioral Health, Co-management of medical/surgical/OB/ED patients with hospitalists and various attendings.
