About the Job

Position Summary:

The Send-Out Coordinator provides services as part of the patient care team. The Send-Out Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations of the Send Out bench in the Core Lab.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assumes responsibility for all specimens that are sent to reference or outside laboratories for testing.
  • Assumes responsibility for the accurate and timely reporting of the results of this testing. Researches potential labs for esoteric testing requests.
  • Acts as a liaison between customers and the laboratory to promote increased customer satisfaction with laboratory services by both successfully answering inquiries/resolving problems and by presenting a positive, professional image.
  • Works with IS and Billing to make Test Dictionary changes to existing tests and setting up new tests.
  • As needed, works with the Desk bench in Chemistry.
  • Responsible for training of staff for coverage during vacations.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Is responsible for quality of own work.
  • Must remain flexible in response to change.
  • Serves as a resource for Send Outs at AGH.

Scheduled Hours

40 hours per week, day shift.

High school graduate or equivalent. Minimum two years progressive laboratory support experience.
