About the Job

Position Summary:  Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Plant Operations and following established guidelines, operates, installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains refrigeration, air conditioning, heating and ventilating equipment and controls. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:


  1. Troubleshoots malfunctioning mechanical equipment in an effective, efficient, and timely manner.
  1. Troubleshoots pneumatic and/or electronic control systems to proper predetermined calibrated set-points.
  1. Adjusts flow valves on pipelines to regulate specified flow rates to maintain proper discharge temperatures.
  1. Performs lubrication and other required preventive maintenance tasks as specified on GRAND-PM system and/or manufacturers recommendations.
  1. Winterizes all HVAC equipment per established policies and procedures.
  1. Maintains and orders adequate inventory of spare parts and/or replacement components to meet needs for normal operation or repair.
  1. Tests efficiency of various HVAC/refrigeration systems to maintain at high degree of performance/calibration.
  1. Follows approved procedure for safe and proper removal of refrigeration equipment to meet Federal and State requirements.
  1. Maintains and verifies that all licenses and permits associated with refrigeration equipment are current.
  1. Maintains documentation as required.
  1. Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles , Mission Statement and Goals  into daily activities. 
  1. Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.
  1. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.
  1. Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
  1. Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment.
  1. Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards.
  1. Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
  1. Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.
  1. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:


Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Vocational/Trade School courses and/or equivalent education and experience.


Licensure, Certification, Registration:  Current valid Massachusetts State Refrigeration License.


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:   Thorough working knowledge of refrigeration cycle and operating controls.  Thorough working knowledge of HVAC electro-mechanical equipment and controls (pneumatic and electric).  In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.


Experience:     3-5 years related HVAC experience in a healthcare facility.
