About the Job

Position Summary:               The clinical resource nurse serves as an off shift clinical expert for all direct care providers, under the direction of the nursing supervisor. As part of the off shift clinical resource team, the primary responsibility of this role is providing in the moment clinical care and/or coaching to direct care providers. Other responsibilities, to be completed as time allows, include ensuring regulatory readiness, supporting and educating around practice changes, gathering performance/quality data and utilizing evidence based data and clinical inquiry to guide staff. The clinical resource nurse must possess strong problem solving skills, organizational skills, make effective use of team resources and have ability to engage with staff, patients, families and clinical leadership. Clinical resource nurses will work at both the Beverly Hospital and Addison Gilbert Hospital campuses.

Scheduled Hours

24 hours per week, 12 hour night shifts, 7pm-7:30am.  Every other weekend & holiday required.

Responsibilities

Resource

  • Rounds on all patient care areas and provides expertise, guidance, and coaching
  • Provides direct care to patients as needed in any clinical setting
  • Seeks out  less experienced nursing staff and provides mentoring
  • Role models clinical expertise, collaboration, and professional standards (e.g. proper chain of command)
  • Reviews Sepsis data/scores, patient awaiting tertiary transfers and identifies patients at risk
  • Supports patient flow by working with nursing and physician staff to determine telemetry and ICU appropriateness
  • Works with clinical staff on Sepsis and other  imperative standards of care

Education

  • Ensures practice alerts are acknowledged
  • Communicates with nursing education to be aware of new initiatives/education
  • Serve as an off shift resource on new initiative/education
  • Serves as an expert and role models new technology (e.g. code narrator)
  • Able to readily access resources and share with staff

 

Performance Improvement

  • Supports individual units PI initiatives
  • Performs data collection, chart review and analysis as directed and as time allows
  • Able to debrief with staff and communicate ideas for improvement after critical situations

 

Communication

  • Maintains open and frequent communication with the nursing supervisor and all clinical team members
  • Able to identify issues/concerns and follow through with appropriate departments/leadership
  • Ability to effectively delegate and direct work as needed
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with all units in the Hospital

Qualifications

Education/Experience:               3- 5 years of acute care nursing experience with 2 or more of those years working in Critical Care or Emergency nursing                                          

  

Certification/License:            MA RN license

                                                BLS and ACLS

IV certification preferred
