About the Job
Assists the Director of Resident Life in developing and providing active and passive group and individual activities for residents in the traditional assisted living program including residents with memory impairment and other related dementias; Activities are designed to enhance each resident’s mental, physical, spiritual and social needs; Assists the Director of Resident Life in overseeing the community’s Yankee Gift Shoppe, assists the Director of Resident Life in supervising volunteers.
A. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to assist in the development and implementation of Resident Life programs for both the traditional and memory impaired resident. The ability to create interest in Resident Life programming and to motivate the residents to participate in the daily programs is required. Creativity and motivational skills are a must. The ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing is essential. The ability to bend, stretch, stoop, lift, push and pull frequently is required.
B. Education: A college degree in related health field is preferred
C. Experience - Previous experience in recreational therapy designed to meet the needs of both the traditional and memory impaired individual or a related field is preferred. Gerontology experience is optimal.
D. Certificates/Licenses - A valid driver’s license in the state of work is required with no more than two moving violations in a three-year period as determined by our insurance broker.
