About the Job

Under minimal supervision from the IS Applications Director, the Application Systems Engineer V works with a team of Applications Systems Analysts and Applications Systems Engineers to perform a variety of IT tasks. The tasks include partnering with end-users on system related projects, producing technical specifications, producing high quality computer programming code, conducting meetings, adhering to IT system change management processes, completing system and volume tests, troubleshooting/supporting existing production systems, leading and/or participating in system upgrades, and leading and/or participating in new installations. Takes initiative to handle tasks independently. May also provide oversight of team members’ work on specific projects as determined by the IS Applications Manager. In addition to working on Lahey Health’s mission-critical enterprise and departmental systems, projects/installations may encompass work on initiatives across affiliations.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Delivers high quality computer programming code and assigned work within appropriate timeframes.
  • Works with the user community to develop functional business requirements that adhere to standard IT Project

    Methodology.

  • Produces technical specifications, data conversion, and/or mapping criteria as determined for assigned projects from which programs will be written. May include cross-team coordination and cooperation within AD and the IS Dept.
  • Utilizes computer programming skills in the development and support of high quality code within established coding standards. Develops and maintains associated technical documentation. Conducts unit testing. May participate in the development and execution of user test plans.
  • Provides user support during the implementation of new systems. Possesses full knowledge of system design,

    coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.

  • Supports assigned production environments: troubleshoots technical application issues, documents and manages

    incoming requests whether handled internally within Lahey Hospital and Medical Center or with a vendor.

    Understands the interdependencies and internal workings of assigned systems. Also, provides back-up support for other team members as needed.

  • Participates in on-call (rotating) coverage.
  • Provides training and mentoring to other team members.
  • Contributes to and /or produces and maintains project plans. (Project assignments are usually large and complex.)  Facilitates activities to insure that project milestones and deadlines are met. Manages and tracks to milestone schedules and deliverables. Reports on status of projects.
  • Participates in ongoing system, technical, and industry related classes and seminars.

Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience.

Experience:

  • 10 years of progressively-responsible experience performing design, analysis, development, implementation, integration and maintenance on a variety of web development activities. 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • 10 years of technical experience using PeopleSoft application development tools such as Application Designer, PeopleCode, PeopleTools, SQL, SQR, CI, PS Query, Query manager, XML Publisher, Integration Broker, AppEngine and PS Security methodology
  • Working knowledge of Oracle 11g and above
  • High comfort level with all standard Microsoft/Google Development tools
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • A high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Advanced time management skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment which may include IS peers, internal customers, vendors and managers throughout the organization
  • Candidate should also be customer service focus, with excellent communication skills

 

 

Specific For FSCM / SCM Developers

  • Ten years of technical experience with PeopleSoft Financials v9.2, including the GL, AP, AM, Procurement & Distribution modules
  • Any prior experience with Hyperion Planning / Budgeting software is a plus, as is working knowledge of Business Intelligent solutions

Specific For HCM Developers

  • Ten years of technical experience with PeopleSoft Human Capital Management v9.2 application suite, including the HCM, Manager / Employee Self Service, Payroll, Benefits, Work Force Administration Recruitment
