About the Job

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
  2. Participates in maintaining and implementing the system-wide vision and strategy for pharmacy automation and information technology.  Evaluates and provides recommendations on a broad range of hardware and software products for applicability, compatibility, safety, efficiency, and long-range integration with other systems. 
  3. Demonstrates the ability to lead a project.  Assigns tasks, deadlines, and responsibilities.  Establishes clear accountability to accomplish departmental established priorities. 
  4. Maintains current industry knowledge and trends, attending educations events, acquiring certification, and participating in committee work as appropriate.
  5. Works effectively and creates relationships with Information Technology Department and the vendors on maintenance of all pharmacy systems and ongoing projects.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  7. Supports ongoing development, maintenance, and support of hospital electronic health record system including: data reporting, performance improvement, identifying and resolving computer-related problems, monitoring reports of problems, coordinates downtime, reports software problems, and participates in quality improvement activities.
  1. Analyzes present and future needs through analyzing and gathering data regarding regulatory requirements, operational procedures, quality improvement, and hospital/departmental policies.  Works to strengthen existing systems, processes, policies and procedures by introducing new ideas that lead to improved patient care and in the pharmacy department.
  2. Works effectively with an inter-disciplinary team to plan, coordinate the development, daily operations, implementation, and ongoing support of pharmacy information system through team leadership.
  3. Act as primary clinical liaison between Department of Pharmacy and other health care professionals with respect to pharmacy information technology and automation issues.
  4. Demonstrates excellent interdisciplinary communication and exhibit strong educational and precepting abilities for pharmacy students and residents.
  5. Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.

     

  6. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  

PharmD

Master’s Degree in Pharmacy Administration, Health Administration, or Business Administration preferred

Licensure, Certification, Registration:   

Registered Pharmacist in State of Massachusetts

EPIC Willow or Clarity Certification/Proficiency preferred

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:       

Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge

Strong informatics knowledge as it pertains to systems, interfaces, and testing

Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.

Ability to apply knowledge of medication and patient safety to clinical informatics

Skill in the use of personal computers and ability to master all related software applications.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access)

Must possess ability to manipulate large amount of data with the applications and Microsoft Office.

Experience:     

PGY1 experience or >3 years practice experience in a clinical area of focus preferred

Formal training or deemed experience in informatics preferred

Supervisory/management experience preferred
