About the Job

Contributes to the Hospital’s mission by streamlining and monitoring the insurance referral process obtaining pre-authorizations prior to services being provided and educating stakeholders on the approval process.  This administrative support staff position will serve as a liaison between Oncology and Patient Financial Services.  This position will impact the reimbursement process by reducing denials thus improving Oncology services’ financial success, and improving physician satisfaction and patient satisfaction by identify and resolving insurance related issues.




Required:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

PreferredAssociates Degree/Certification in Health Care Administration or Business.


Required:  One (1) year medical practice/healthcare administrative support experience.

  • Two (2) years medical practice/healthcare administrative support experience, with six (6) months experience with insurance referrals/approvals.

  • Experience with CPT-4/ICD-9 coding and medical terminology.

    Other Skills/Knowledge:

    Required:   Competence in MS Office software.  

  • Meditech or other electronic medical records systems.

  • Experience navigating and researching the internet, specifically insurance website content.

  • For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team.
