About the Job

Under the direction of the Manager of General Accounting the Senior Accountant analyzes financial information and prepares financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, or other financial activities within the organization.  This is a hands-on position, responsibilities include general ledger entries and the payment system.  Experience working with Physician Compensation Models is preferred.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  1. Creates General Ledger entries and performs Balance Sheet account analysis, Statement of Operations analysis, and Budget variance analysis. 
  2. Serves as a liaison and works closely with the Physician Relations Department.
  3. Prepares the corporate tax returns for review by the outside Tax Consultants.
  4. Provides financial data to Payment Systems Department for the Medicare cost reports.
  5. Works on ad hoc projects for VP’s and Managers.
  6. Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
  7. Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.
  8. Maintains strict compliance with Lahey Clinic Confidentiality Policies and behavioral expectations of the department and Clinic.
  9.  Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.
     

Education:  BS in Accounting

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in PeopleSoft Enterprise.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and a demonstrated ability to use electronic spreadsheets.
  • Proficiency in math, accounting, multifunction electronic calculator, and related office tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, well-developed written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional organization skills.

Experience:    

  • Minimum of 3-5 years accounting experience.
  • Preferred experience with Physician Compensation Models.
  • Hands-on accounting experience, well rounded with strong analytical skills.
