About the Job

GENERAL SUMMARY:  Orients, trains and supervises clinical staff in a larger practice.  Maintains clinical staffing schedule insuring practice is appropriately staffed.  Functions as RN depending on practice and licensure.


  1. Exemplifies Winchester Hospital’s values and Service Excellence standards.  Commits to making every encounter with our patients, patients’ family, co-workers, physicians and other customers the best that it can be.
  2. Complies with all Winchester Hospital and WPA policies and the Code of Business Conduct.  As required, maintains current life support certification and tuberculosis testing.  Takes responsibility for own safety as well as the safety of patients, patients’ family, co-workers, physicians and other customers.
  3. Works collaboratively with providers in delivering patient care per practice protocols.
  4. Interviews, hires, orients, evaluates, and when necessary, disciplines staff.  Trains and coaches staff to ensure position performance standards and hospital set initiatives is met.  Establishes work schedules within departments to insure adequate staffing, revises schedules as needed.
  5. Performs and documents varying exam preparatory duties including height, weight, blood pressure, EKG, blood sugar, vision and hearing testing, and ear lavage.
  6. Interfaces with patients and families providing telephone advice and support, prescription refills as instructed by providers, and laboratory and diagnostic test results.
  7. Assists with minor procedures.  Applies and changes dressings.  Monitors in office IVs.
  8. Administers medications in office as ordered by providers.
  9. Performs laboratory testing including urinalysis and throat cultures.
  10. Maintains clean, organized and well-stocked exam rooms.  Orders medical supplies.
  11. Completes various patient forms such as insurance, school and camp, and work forms.
  12. Participates in the following:
  13. Mandatory training requirements as per hospital/unit policies
  14. Continuing education/inservices to enhance knowledge
  15. Staff meetings
  16. Performance improvement initiatives
  17. Orientation of new staff, students and/or volunteers 


  1. Graduate of an accredited RN school

2.   At least 3 years clinical experience in a medical office setting.

3.   Keyboarding ability

LICENSE, CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:  Massachusetts Registered Nurse License.
