About the Job

Position Summary: This position reports to the Pulmonary Testing Supervisor. The Pulmonary Testing Respiratory Care Practitioner in his/her role practices as a Respiratory Care Practitioner with a specialty in Pulmonary Function Testing. S/he is responsible for patient testing within the scope of service in accordance with the following organizations; ATS, American Thoracic Society, AARC, American Association of Respiratory Care Practice Guidelines and licensure laws under the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Board of Registration of Respiratory Care. The Pulmonary Testing Respiratory Care Practitioner works under physician orders, follows departmental and Lahey Clinic policies to provide pulmonary testing and administer respiratory modalities. The Pulmonary Testing Respiratory Care Practitioner provides medication administration, for all age groups as appropriate, recognizes all respiratory emergencies within the pulmonary clinic setting, acts on best behalf of patients and activates MET [Medical Emergency Team] and Code Blue when necessary. The Pulmonary Testing Respiratory Care Practitioner provides consultative role to physicians and members of the health care team.



Associates degree in Respiratory Therapy from an Accredited School of Respiratory Therapy.


Licensure, Certification, Registration:

  • Massachusetts License,

  • BLS


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:  

Excellent interpersonal skills

Working knowlegde of PC’s.

Excellent Oral and Written Communication skills.

Ability to impart specialized clinical and medical information to members of the health care team; physician, nurses
