OR Charge Nurse
The OR Charge Nurse is responsible for the day-to-day running of the OR. The OR Charge Nurse must coordinate care in conjunction with anesthesia department, surgeons, and hospital units.
The OR Charge Nurse coordinates patient flow from other hospital units into the operating room. This includes ensuring that the patient is ready for surgery, surgeon is available to perform the surgery and the operating room is cleaned, and prepared with the appropriate equipment for the planned surgery, and a competent operating room staff is assigned.
The OR Charge Nurses must also be knowledgeable about LHMC’s policies and procedures.
