About the Job

Position Summary: portrays the part of a patient or family member to facilitate the training and education of staff and/or students.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

 

  1. Assist learners in the development of communication skills
  1. Assist learners in working through difficult emotional situations in a safe environment
  1. Undergo a limited physical exam by learners
  1. Provide feedback on communication and emotional support to the learners
  1. Simulate symptoms specific to the educational course being taught
  1. Allow all learner interactions to be videotaped for educational or research purposes

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: high school diploma or equivalent

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Standardized patient education certificate preferred  

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: ability to portray patient symptoms and emotional states

Experience: One year standardized patient position or experience as an actor/actress preferred.
