About the Job
Greets clients in a friendly and courteous manner. Arranges for efficient and orderly checking in and out of patients. Initiates visits in the Employee Health medical record system, ensuring the accuracy of employee information. Schedules appointments, answers the telephone, enters data into the employee health record. Provide and obtains referrals and maintains smooth operations of all front desk activities at all times. The receptionist responds to patient questions, coordinates services to be rendered to patients, maintains physician provider schedules. Coordinates required employee health surveillance schedules and follow up needs. Runs reports and maintains employee health data.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
Greets clients in a friendly and courteous manner.
Arranges for efficient and orderly checking in and out of patients.
Initiates visits in the Employee Health medical record system, ensuring the accuracy of employee information.
Schedules appointments, answers the telephone, enters data into the employee health record.
Provide and obtains referrals and maintains smooth operations of all front desk activities at all times.
The receptionist responds to patient questions, coordinates services to be rendered to patients, maintains physician provider schedules.
Coordinates required employee health surveillance schedules and follow up needs.
Runs reports and maintains employee health data.
Collect and update insurance and demographic information on all patients, make photocopies of insurance cards.
Enters all necessary orders and charges; Answers telephone within three rings, places caller on hold only after caller agrees they can; wait and always reconnects call within 1 minute; Takes clear, unambiguous messages, determines call backs for clinicians and other office staff; Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner.; Ability to address patients needs; Assists healthcare team in emergencies and pages Plan A’s, Code’s, as needed; Schedules clinic appointments and biopsy appointments for patients in the center; Ensures provider schedules are maximized and fills cancelation’s with other patients.
Fosters relationships and openly and directly communication with members of other departments to insure the consistent and appropriate flow of information.
Seeks opportunities to promote excellence through knowledge and/or participation in performance improvement activities.
Completes annual Value Safety First presentation. Creates and maintains a safe working environment by following Safety/Infection Control/Employee Health Policies & Procedures, using Personal Protective Equipment, using Personal Protective Equipment, using Safety devices, and properly disposing of infectious/hazardous waste. Reports incidents, accidents and hazards as per policy.
Promotes and adheres to Service Excellence standards of customer service, professional behavior, and team approach/initiatives.
Maintain strict adherence to the Lahey Health Confidentiality policy.
Incorporate Lahey Health Standards of Behavior and Guiding Principles into daily activities.

Perform all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.
High school diploma or equivalent years of experience in a professional setting;
Licensure, Certification & Registration:
previous experience in a medical office; performing medical scheduling, and with medical software; working experience with medical terminology; appropriate English usage.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
excellent phone and customer service skills; even temperament; ability to multitask and communicate issues to the department manager in a timely manner.
