About the Job

Under the direction of the department supervisor and following established procedures, performs a variety of tasks associated with retrieval, preparation, filing, processing, quality control, and scanning electronic and paper documents related to patient billing.  The Production Support Coordinator is also responsible for determining the disposition of daily paper insurance claims.  This position utilizes a variety of Lahey Clinic electronic systems to locate, identify and print files and documents.  Production Support Coordinators respond to requests in accordance with stringent time and production standards as defined by the department. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:


1. Document Preparation and Scanning:

  • Prepares and accurately scans various documents with the appropriate level of indexing using the Lahey Clinic enterprise wide document management hardware and software.
  • Performs quality control activities to be sure that scanned documents are reconciled, electronically stored in the correct folder and that picture quality meets all specifications.
  • Maintains accurate production and quality records.

2. Claims Processing:

  • Work and resolve select claim edits in order to release claims for billing.
  • Accesses IDX and Meditech billing systems to identify, demand and print electronic remittance advices (EOB).
  • Matches remittance documents and other attachments with claims as appropriate for billing.
  • Meets or exceeds established standards for quality and response time.
  • Ensures the billing of secondary claims as appropriate.
  • Daily disposition of paper claims.
  • Maintains billing office files and records.

3. Organizational Requirements:

  • Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.
  • Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients.

  • Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to our Customer Service standards.
  • Participates in departmental and/or interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
  • Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education.
  • Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.


  • 1 year of related office experience, including pc use.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Attention to detail, basic understanding of claims & remittance documents, basic use of PC including data entry and data retrieval;
  • Ability to perform transactions in billing systems, ability to meet all quality and production expectations. 
  • Alpha and numeric sorting and filing of documents and records.
  • In the absence of any of these skills demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational requirements
