Position Summary:

Responsible for ensuring that the patient experience in accessing healthcare at Beverly Hospital is efficient and welcoming, and that patient confidentiality is respected and patient safety is preserved. Ensures that all proper patient financial and demographic information is obtained and processed so Beverly Hospital is fully reimbursed for clinical services provided. Performs follow up on all inpatient and observation admissions by re-verifying all insurance eligibility and benefits. Advocates for patients by assisting with insurance and allowing the patients to focus on their health. Collaborates with insurance companies, when necessary, to proactively validate all of the patient?s insurances eligibility and benefits. Communicates to all Medicare Inpatients to assure that they understand the Medicare Secondary Payor Questionnaire, the Medicare Important Message and having the patient sign that they have received the MCR IM; explains to all observation patients, the difference between observation and inpatient status, handing the patient the Observation vs. Inpatient Pamphlet, and having the patient sign acknowledging that Observation status has been explained to them and that they have received the Observation vs. Inpatient pamphlet while maintaining a positive patient experience. Works on all ?Patient WQs? for all sites and notifies the respective Patient Access Manager of any trends that they may see with regards to errors being made or fields being left unfilled by certain staff members (then the Access Manager will follow up with the responsible staff making the errors or leaving fields left blank to prevent this from occurring in the future.)

Scheduled Hours

16 hours per week, day shift.

High school degree or equivalent

Licensure, Certification & Registration: None


Prior experience in a business setting providing customer service, while processing and verifying electronic demographic, financial or other business-related information and data. Healthcare experience within registration or financial services preferred.  Epic experience preferred.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Able to work successfully in a fast-paced, multi-task environment, where some independent decision making is necessary. Able to process electronic information and data accurately and efficiently.
