Medical Assistant Educator/Full Time/Beverly

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Physician Business Services for Primary Care and in collaboration with the Associate Chief Nursing Officer of Ambulatory Nursing, Burlington and Peabody, the Medical Assistant Educator practices within the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Professional Practice Model and demonstrates Lahey Hospital and Medical Center?s core values that reflect its Mission. Promotes quality and efficiency in patient care by providing expert education and role modeling for the Medical and Clinical Assistants in all of the Primary Care practices.

The MA Educator maintains a current level of knowledge and skill with technical procedures, team based care, participation in population health management and associated information technology. Complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
A. Coordinates the orientation and competency assessment of MAs and CAs
B. In collaboration with the site managers, performs on-going evaluation of MA/CA staff including progress in orientation and annual competency evaluation
C. Collaborates with the site managers and to set up convenient days and times for training/education
D. Validates orientation and ongoing competency assessment of MAs and CAs including but not limited to: vital signs, EKGs, pulse oximetry, spirometry, body mechanics, documentation in EPIC (pending orders, Rx refills, etc.)
E. Participates in the development and implementation of workflow redesigns and competencies required for medical home transformation
F. Participates in the development and implementation of competencies required to achieve patient and population centered top-of-license team based care

G. Participates in the development and implementation of competencies which will enhance/improve the patient experience
H. Maintains frequent communications with Site Managers and responds promptly to questions and requests
I. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the Division

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate of Science in a Healthcare-related field preferred.

Licensure, Certification & Registration:
Certified MA, or licensed nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is preferred.

Experience: 3 years clinical experience in a hospital based clinic or doctor?s office required.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Clinical Skills/Technical Knowledge
a. Demonstrates the necessary education and clinical competence in ambulatory practice.
b. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
c. Effective verbal and written communication skills
d. Computer skills beyond the basic level.
e. Able to create and teach processes and workflows based on current initiatives with the ability to track and maintain competencies across Primary Care.
