Service Line Nurse Manager- Neurosciences and Behavioral Health

Reports Directly to the Associate CNO of Ambulatory Nursing and Operationally to the Service Line Director to Neurosciences and Behavioral Health

Department Oversight of the Clinical support staff of the Burlington, Peabody and Lexington sites for Neurology. Additional sites for providers at Winchester Neurology, Cape Ann Neurology , Emerson Neurosurgery, and Integrated Behavior Health providers at Primary Care Sites.

Direct Reports: Medical Assistants, Registered Nurses, Prior Authorization Coordinator, and Chief Technicians; approximately 50 colleagues

Job Description:
- Participates in planning and implementation of department and division goals, programs and objectives, personnel, resources and equipment.
- Implements the approved business plans that identify strategies, objectives, timetables, expected outcomes and measures for assigned areas of responsibility. Updates plan to reflect challenges and opportunities in the marketplace.
- Organizes, manages and coordinates all operational and clinical processes. Manages clinical staff, organizes and oversees work schedules and assignments to meet operational needs. Develops and implements procedures to ensure efficient processing of work flow.
- Works in collaboration with the clinic manager to ensure adequate patient flow and proper clinic checkout/discharge activities. Collaborates with clinic manager regarding patient scheduling, registration and billing processes according to protocol.
- Hire and train new clinical staff, including corrective action if needed. Ensures skill development and training for clinical staff.
- Assists the clinic manager with projects that support administrative service standards and improvements such as access and telephone system functionality, patient satisfaction results.
- Provides feedback regarding systems and process changes and improvements
- Monitor provider schedules to ensure appropriate staff is present and a reasonable number of patients are scheduled in order to facilitate timely patient care.
- Ensures accuracy of patient related activities, services and lab tests. Assists providers and staff and ensures availability of supplies.
- Has the authority to direction and support employees daily work activities.
- Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment: hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews for clinical staff.
- Provides leadership and training to clinical staff, ensuring that they are following protocol and policies are met as part of day to day operations.
- Assist in the development of patient education materials
- Responsible for Joint Commission readiness at all levels of the departments
- Labor Analytics ? Responsible for bi-weekly labor trends and variance reporting
- Monitor Universal Protocol - Audit all time out procedures for quarterly reporting

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of a state approved or accredited School of Nursing
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing required

Licensure, Certification, Registration: Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience: A minimum of five years of acute nursing experience and two years of leadership experience required.

Shift

DAYS. 8 hour shifts Monday-Friday
