Recovery Specialist (Direct Care Staff)Job ID 149130 Date posted 08/10/2018
During assigned shift, ensures the safety of the program by assuring program security, monitoring, Direct Care and other supportive tasks. Relates to program families in a manner that is supportive of their recovery and other issues that might present themselves.
1. Observes and supervises buildings and grounds and reports anything unusual to co-workers, supervisor or on-call person.
2. Completes all necessary checklists and paperwork in a timely manner. Responsible for all shift documentation and record keeping in accordance with agency policies and procedures as directed, which includes documentation in the daily communication log.
3. Interfaces in a professional manner with co- workers, supervisors, internal and external program/agencies.
4. Attends daily shift planning meeting, weekly staff meetings, and supervision.
5. Shares supervision of client programming and recreational activities, and mediates client disputes as directed.
6. Provides transportation to families as necessary.
7. Responsible for remaining on unit/campus until replacement coverage arrives.
8. Searches client belongings on admission and at discharge and/or as otherwise directed by supervisor.
9. Monitors client medication during the shift and facilitate getting prescriptions filled and documented according to program protocol.
10. Completes incident report by end of shift.
11. Documents and communicates medication issues with co-workers, supervisors, and pharmacy.
12. Ensures a clean, safe working environment.
13. Responsible for collecting random urine screens according to program protocol.
14. Complies with all policies and procedures.
15. Other duties as assigned.
High school diploma required. Associates degree preferred in related field, but not required. Must have experience working with women and children, and substance abuse. One to two years of training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification in CPR and valid Massachusetts driver?s license in good standing.
Must demonstrate ability to relate to a substance abuse treatment population in a sensitive manner, an interest and willingness to work in a multicultural setting and must share a customer service orientation. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics. Manages difficult or emotional client situations; Responds promptly to client needs and maintains confidentiality.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is required to stand and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
