The department of pulmonary and critical care is seeking an advanced practitioner (PA or NP) to join an established group of critical care advanced practitioners in providing direct care for critically ill patients in our medical intensive care units at multiple sites. The advanced practitioner will perform H&Ps, critical care consults, and will participate in the ongoing management of critically ill patients in collaboration with the attending physician. Management will include formulation of assessment and plan as well as ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests. Responsibilities will also include performance of procedures to include central lines, arterial lines, temporary hemodialysis catheters, paracentesis, thoracentesis and lumbar puncture. The successful candidate will be flexible and have excellent communication skills which will be utilized while working with other members of the health care team as well as with patients and their families.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician Program.
Practitioner RN: Graduate of a Masters Program in Nursing.
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
Applicable professional Certification and current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
CPR certification from American Heart Association.
Maintenance of appropriate CME
DEA number and Mass Department of Public Health Division of Food and Drug Restricted Substances registration number as appropriate.
Written prescription privilege protocols signed by all attendings with whom the individual will be working.
Candidate must have experience as an NP/PA in Critical Care.
