The Lead Nurse Manager is a registered nurse who has overall responsibility for the CCS at her or his respective site and accountability to the ESP Director. Provides clinical and administrative oversight of the CCS program. Manages the daily operations of the CCS program and ensures high quality of care and short term crisis stabilization services in a home-like, consumer friendly and comfortable environment conducive to recovery. In addition, in partnership with the ESP Directors, the Lead Nurse Manager provides guidance and oversight to all CCS nurse managers and programs in the areas of quality assurance and maintaining access.
1. 1. Develop, manage and supervise a team of clinicians, LPNs, mental health counselors and paraprofessionals.
2. Responsible for providing a staff-secure, safe, homelike and structured crisis stabilization and treatment service and ensure the facility is clean and in good repair.
3. Oversee the CCS programming including individual/group psycho-education, including information on recovery, wellness, crisis self-management and how to access wellness and recovery services available in the community; the provision of assessment, treatment interventions and brief counseling for individuals in the CCS program with the primary objectives including restoration of functioning, strengthening the resources and capacities of the individuals, family and other natural supports, timey return to a natural setting in the community, development/strengthening of the individualized crisis plan and/or safety plan, as part of the Crisis Planning Tools for youth and linkage to ongoing medically necessary support services.
4. Performs the following functions: fills physician orders; administers medication; takes vital signs; coordinates medical care; contributes to comprehensive assessment, brief crisis counseling, individualized crisis prevention planning, and provider psycho-education; and assists with discharge planning and care coordination.
5. Responsible and accountable for the quality of nursing care delivered, and establishes/oversees medication administration according to the Nurse Practitioner or Physician?s order. Monitors the biomedical status and conditions of all clients admitted. Timely and accurately records and reports all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the client?s safety status in the medical file and to the attending physician.
6. Leads treatment team meetings.
7.Responsible for monitoring the program?s daily census and ensuring the program maintain the target census
8.Responsbile for scheduling and maintaining an optimal staffing pattern for program coverage within the confines of the program budget and required staffing patterns as outline in the MBHP CCS performance specifications.
9. In collaboration with the Director of Emergency Services, ensure adherence to quality assurance policies and procedures as well as contract compliance with all requirements set forth by MBHP.
10. In collaboration with the Director of Emergency Services, develop quality improvement plans for the CCS program as needed.
11. Ensures availability outside of scheduled supervisory meetings and promptly responds to clinical emergencies.
12. Participates in any scheduled team meetings to foster discussions of relevant clinical needs of populations served as well as to disseminate administrative information.
13. Provide direct crisis assessment and intervention services for CCS clients who may need a different level of care on an as needed basis.
14.Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with ESP staff and other providers and referral sources (i.e. insurance companies, PHP?s, O/P etc.)
15. Guide quality assurance activities across divisions CCS programs including but not limited to CCS Policies and Procedure review and revision as appropriate.
16. Provide leadership across CCS sites in achieving and maintaining daily census targets
17. Develp responsive systems for receiving and reviewing referrals that can be replicated across division
18. Coordinate and lead monthly nurse manager meetings with the 3 CCS nurse managers either in person or by conference call
19. Other duties as assigned.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies and procedures and applicable laws. Responsibilities include supporting the ESP Director with interviewing, hiring and training employees; performance management; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Registered Nurse (RN) required; with previous supervisory/managerial experience preferred. Full time position working business days. Preferred experience and training in emergency psychiatric services working with adults including training in de-escalation strategies and short term crisis counseling.
Strong diagnostic skills; competence in crisis intervention and engagement strategies. Must be able to quickly establish rapport with a wide range of clinical presentations. Knowledge of vast array of community resources and how to access them.
A qualified candidate must achieve effective outcomes and demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills.
A working knowledge of computers and ability to complete documentation electronically is required. In addition the ability to complete written documentation timely and effectively.
Ability to handle multiple priorities.
Ability to exercise good judgement clinically, legally, and ethically. Exercises significant independent judgement and decision making and initiative in the performance of responsibilities.
40 hours, full time

Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
