Compensation Analyst

Position Summary:
Under direct supervision, assists the Compensation Team to administer direct pay programs for biweekly positions throughout the Lahey Health organization. Performs activities related to maintaining and documenting internally equitable and externally competitive compensation programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1) Performs activities related to maintaining and documenting internally equitable and externally competitive compensation programs.
a) Manages Compensation Mailbox, forwarding to the appropriate member of the Compensation Team and letting the requestor know who s/he will be working with.
b) Manages the Compensation Activity Log working with the Compensation Team to ensure the log reflects the most up to date status of all Compensation Activity. Work with the Executive Director of Compensation and Benefits to provide weekly updates and provide clarification as requested.
c) Supports the Compensation Team as they work with HR Business Partners to provide initial analysis of current market position requests by pulling relevant survey data and corresponding colleague data.
d) Manages the Google shared drive for job descriptions, ensuring appropriate colleagues have access to the job descriptions.
e) Supports the Compensation Team as they work with HR Business Partners to develop job descriptions that describe incumbents major duties and responsibilities; evaluates descriptions to ensure equitable placement in salary structures.
f) Works with HR Business Partners to ensure current job descriptions meet JCAHO standards, and comply with standards promulgated by various government and private regulatory agencies (i.e. DOL); and the descriptions support compensation and other relevant management descriptions.

2) Administers direct pay programs for weekly and monthly paid colleagues.
a) Participates in various compensation surveys to develop competitive data for market analyses and presentation of salary recommendations;
b) Works with Compensation Team to analyze survey results to determine market placement of Lahey Health positions.
c) Develops and prepares various standard and custom reports to display current employee and compensation data, and to reflect compensation program performance in a variety of areas such as merit increases, budget performance, and position to market.
d) Tracks any special compensation commitments.

3) Manages Compensation interface with PeopleSoft including running regular queries and audits as well as working with HRIS to develop special requests for information. Updates PSoft with new/updated job codes and job code attributes as needed. Audits and reviews pay practices to insure compliance with Lahey Policy and state and federal legislation.

4) Communicates pay policies and practices to HR Business Partners
a) Interprets and communicates policies and practices in response to inquiries from staff and/or HR Business Partners to ensure consistency in policy application.
b) Works with Compensation Team to prepare training materials for HR and Business managers on compensation policies, programs and processes.

5) Actively participates as a member of the Human Resources team on compensation and non-compensation programs and issues.

6) Maintains and improves professional competencies.
a) Attends professional association meetings and presentations on issues pertaining to professional practice. Shares relevant information/data with colleagues.
b) Reviews articles published in professional journals, bulletins and other media in order to maintain current knowledge of various laws and legislation affecting professional practice.

7) Perform other duties as assigned, or directed, to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

8) Management of individual and group projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field or equivalent experience.

Licensure, Certification & Registration: None

Experience: Requires 2 years of progressively more responsible experience in a HR function. 1 year experience in compensation preferred.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Requires excellent oral and written communications skills as well as analytic skills. Must be fully competent in understanding and using personal computer application software that includes word-processing, spreadsheet, and presentation graphics. Some knowledge of database applications and HRIS/Payroll systems. Demonstrates excellent consultative and project management skills.
