Clinician, Youth Residential/Flex Support Services

The Family Systems Intervention Clinician assists families and youth in developing skills and supports that promotes family cohesion and successful community living, problem solving, conflict resolution, limit setting skills, reduce ineffective patterns of family interactions and assist the family to develop natural supports and identify and access community resources.

This clinician will also plans and facilitates group of children or teens, ages 5-19 that focus on social and emotional skill building, community integration and education and vocational preparation.

Youth Resdiential Clinician responsible for providing direct clinical services to children, adolescents, and/or families with identified mental health or substance use needs. Provides assessment and evaluation services, formulates effective treatment plans, safety plans/assessments, discharge planning and conducts individual, family and/or group counseling and case management services in a residential care facility. Must provide training and treatment services for youth with behavioral health needs and/or substance abuse challenges in a residential setting. This service is designed to meet the specific mental health needs of the identified person/family as they relate to their clinical diagnosis and can be provided in-house, in-school or other approved/appropriate community setting.


Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities Youth Residential:

1. Interviews youth and families, reviews records, and confers with other professionals to evaluate the mental health and behavioral needs of the youth.

2. Obtains and documents in a precise and timely manner all relevant intake and subsequent material. Assesses youth's continuing care needs, contacts appropriate community based resources, and arranges for transfer or admission to appropriate facilities, when appropriate.

3. Formulates a treatment plan based on the development of a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment of youth, safety plans/assessments and when applicable CANS. When appropriate complete necessary paperwork on Virtual Gateway. Otherwise complete all documentation according to required timelines.

4. Provides and assists with the clinical training for staff, youth and families.

5. Facilitates and coordinates youth evaluations and case conferences. Must have the ability to drive youth to DCF, DYS, DMH, or other provider offices for team meetings in the community and then process afterwards with the youth.

6. Counsels youth individually and/or in family and in group sessions to assist youth to achieve treatment goals in a timely manner as required.

7. Oversees and supervises program clinical team.

8. Routinely audits youth clinical charts.

9. Prepares and maintains reports and case histories in accordance with organization guidelines for format, timeliness, and quality assurance.

10. Attends staff meetings and supervisory sessions as required.

11. Participates in on-call duties as required. Will need to be able to respond to the program within one hour of a phone call or transport youth to the emergency room or to maintain the safety of the milieu.

12. As appropriate participates in leadership and other meetings as requested.

13. All other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities for Flex Support Services:

1. Provide outreach and engagement in settings including the family's home or another community location.

2. Complete a comprehensive assessment.

3. Support families in identifying clear treatment goals and work in collaboration with assigned
paraprofessionals to carry out interventions.

4. Collaborate, as appropriate, with other providers and natural supports of families served.

5. Provide or arrange transportation as needed in order to support IAP goals.

6. Complete timely and accurate documentation to reflect services provided.

7. Staff person can only bill for services rendered and those that are billable according to the specifications.

8. Person carries a caseload as assigned.

9. Communicate with Managed Care Entities to ensure authorization for services provided.

10. Meet productivity standard for hours worked (Not applicable for Fee-For-Service staff).

11. Meet standards as established by Performance Specifications.

12. Build and adjust schedule as necessary to meet the needs of persons served. Afternoon/evening hours are required. Situations may arise where staff may need to schedule and hold appointments on weekends
based upon the needs of the families served. Exempt IHT staff are required to be available by telephone from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the business week.

13. Uphold values and mission of IFFSS.

14. Other related duties as assigned.


A qualified candidate must be one of the following; LICSW, LCSW, LMFT, LMHC, Licensed Psychologist, Master's Level Counselor; must have experience and training in working with youth and their families, including training in family therapy.

Must be a team player and have good communication and organizational skills.

A working knowledge of computers and ability to complete documentation electronically is required. In addition the ability to complete written documentation timely and effectively.

If providing supervision, one year of supervisory experience is required.

Must demonstrate ability to relate and desire work with a diverse adolescent population in a sensitive manner, an interest and willingness to work in a multicultural setting and must share a customer service orientation. Manages difficult or emotional situations; responds promptly to youth needs.

Computer literate in standard desktop applications such as Windows, Word, and Excel.

Must have a valid driver?s license.

Scheduled Hours

40 hours split between two locations: 20 hours at Hill House Youth Residential in Ipswich and 20 hours at Flex Support Services in Beverly

Full-time: Benefit eligible.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able and willing to transport persons served. As such, all qualified candidates must have a valid driver's license, good driving record, and reliable vehicle. Travel and an ability to meet persons served in a variety of outreach settings is required.
