Under the direction of the Director, Manager and/or Supervisor of Patient Access services, performs functions which include greeting patients, assisting family members of patients, paging security, registering patients, verifying insurances for eligibility and benefits, and obtaining authorizations or pre-certifications when needed. Includes the collection and/or notification of any out of pocket payments the patient may owe for insurance co-payments or deposits for the services rendered, if applicable. Rotates weekends & holiday on-call, covers or finds coverage if needed. Performs QA on other staff members within their respective areas in a effort to eliminate registration errors. Trains new employees on the day-to-day operations of their respective areas. Observes all health & safety requirements.
High School Graduate required. Advanced education preferred. Five years experience in a healthcare setting in scheduling. Typing speed of 50 WPM, CRT experience and medical terminology required. Third party payor knowledge and insurance background required.
24 hours per week, 11pm-7am position in the Beverly Emergency Department Access Services. Every other weekend and every other holiday required.
