Beverly Hospital has made the commitment to sustain the inpatient Medical Day Care/Clinical Decision Unit which is a designated area within the hospital that allow our providers to monitor and evaluate the medical condition of patients who do not meet criteria for inpatient admission but are not well enough to go home without required further observation. We are also able to provide other services within the unit to deliver care otherwise done in outpatient ambulatory settings or the Emergency Department.
Inpatient Medical Day Care/Clinical Decision Unit is seeking RN's for part time night positions.
The 3 areas of specialty within this unit are:
-Outpatient care for antibiotics, vaccines, specialty medications, MS and Asthma to name a few, and not limited to.
-Clinical Decision Unit of 8 beds that are used for observation, triage, diagnosing, treating and monitoring of patients mainly coming from the ED
-Ambulatory Surgical procedures
The Inpatient Medical Day Care/Clinical Decision Unit is typically staffed with 10 RNs, and 2 CNA/AA who work staggered hours to accommodate the volume and flow of patients.
The CDU patients are covered by the assigned ED physician and ED PA/NP.
The CCU provides back up coverage in the event of an emergency. The CCU is next door to the MDC/Holding Unit.
Nurses are required to participate in a competency-based orientation and have demonstrated unit-specific competencies.
Nurses receive appropriate on-going education related to the needs of the unit and meet the requirements of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for continuing education credits.
Qualified candidates will be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse license.
BCLS & ACLS required.
Must have telemetry experience and at least 2 years experience in medical-surgical nursing.
Lab drawing, EKG, charge experience and Float experience preferred.
Experience with observation status patients; IV skills preferred; phlebotomy skills preferred; experience with scheduling, therapy plans, and charges for outpatients preferred; charge experience preferred.
24 hours per week, 2 12 hour shifts, 7p-7:30a. Every other weekend & holiday required.
May be required to float to other units if patient census is low
