About the Job
The Clinical Nurse Specialist is a professional nurse, an expert practitioner in nursing and a member of the nursing leadership team who implements the CNS mission and philosophy of Beverly Hospital, a member of Lahey Health. Shares overall management responsibility for OB Services. The CNS promotes safe care for patients by keeping patient safety as a focus of all unit operations and clinical practices. . The principle role of this position is to ensure that clinical practice is consistent with standards and evidence-based policies and procedures. The CNS serves as a consultant, teacher and role model to the OB services nursing staff. The CNS contributes to the delivery of patient care through development and support of nursing staff, collaboration with patients and their families and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. The CNS is the nursing champion to the medical staff and collaborates in the area of nursing research and nursing professional practice. As an expert in clinical practice, the CNS functions in the role domains of clinical practice, consultation, education, research / clinical outcomes and population management drawn from the highest standards of evidenced-based benchmarks and practice. The CNS supervises clinical practice of the staff; and empowers nursing staff through education, consultation, clinical support and the development of supportive programs and standards of care. The CNS proactively recommends improvements in standards of practice. This person serves as an advisor to direct care provider, participates in special projects and related duties.
Full Time, day shift, 40 horus a week

RN and Masters degree required.
Must have current OB/Labor and Delivery experience. Current knowledge of evidence-based care required. Teaching experience preferred.
Minimum of three to five years recent clinical experience in OB nursing is required.
BLS and NRP and/or ACLS certification required
National certification in specialty nursing is required.
Nursing education and quality improvement experience preferred
Member of relevant professional organization
Current knowledge Of evidence-based practice including but not limited to, national standards and guidelines, principles and practice of safety science, regulatory requirements and current resources.
Participation in relevant professional development activities
Demonstrates high degree of independence and decision-making
Ability to address clinical problems by analyzing, synthesizing, and integrating current research and best practice models.
Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills evidenced by the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively to promote teamwork among all care providers.
Experience with project development and management
Experience with staff education and quality improvement
